Here’s a week of Bible stories, verses, and simple activities to teach preschoolers to show kindness and appreciate it in others.

Read the suggested Bible stories and then tell them in your own words or read them from a children’s Bible story book. (If you are looking for a Bible story book to use with your children, here’s a list of my favorites.)

Share these Bible verses often.

Ephesians 4:32 Be kind to each other,
tenderhearted, forgiving one another,
just as God through Christ has forgiven you.

Proverbs 17:17  A friend is always loyal,
and a brother is born to help in time of need

Philippians 2:3-4  Don’t be selfish . . . Be humble,
thinking of others as better than yourself.

Don’t think only about your own affairs,
but be interested in others, too
and what they are doing.

Day One

Story: David and Jonathan (1 Samuel 18 1-4)

Activities:
Have child help make cookies and then invite a friend over to share them with.
Talk about ways to show kindness to our friends.- sharing toys, etc.

Day Two

Story: Elisha’s Friends (2 Kings 4:8-11)

Activities:
Talk about how you prepared a room for your child to show your love for him. Point out things in the room.
Next time you are having a house guest, let them help prepare the room for your guests as you talk about the story.

Day Three

Story: Four Friends (Mark 2:1-12)

Activities:
Send a card or go see a sick friend.
Talk about ways to help sick friends.
Pray for a sick friend.

Day Four

Story: We Work Together – (Nehemiah 1:1-11, 2:1-20, 3:1-32, 6:15-16)

Activities:
Help fold laundry or pick up toys.
Build a wall with blocks together or hammer nails into wood as you tell the story of the people working together to rebuild the city wall.

Day Five

Story:  A Kind Man (The Good Samaritan)

Activities:
Act out the story with plenty of bandaides and bandages.
Find pictures of people showing kindness.
Lead them to look for those around them showing kindness.

Here’s another way to lead your children to show kindness!! Our grandson’s kindergarten teacher sent this note home with her students: “Your teacher will be discussing how important it is to make eye contact and smile at other classmates. This shows others that you are interested in them…”  I LOVE this!
